How to Ramp Up Your Next Camping Trip Without Really Trying

Are you currently planning your next camping adventure? If so, there are a few things you can do to make this camping trip a bit more memorable. Camping really can be, and should be fun and exciting. With a little pre-planning, every camping trip can go off as smooth as butter.

One way to make any camping trip fun and exciting is by inviting some of your friends or family. There really is truth in the saying, "The more the merrier". You should also keep in mind that your friends and family do not necessarily all have to share the same campsite. Maintaining separate campsites will allow all of you to have fun together as well as having a space for privacy or to just be alone enjoying nature.

Another way to increase your enjoyment level on your next camping adventure is to plan ahead in relation to your campsite location. All campsites are not alike! Many campgrounds have numerous facilities and activities to keep you busy and entertained.

The activities are usually related to the areas landscape. For example many campsites are next to large lakes, rivers, and even oceans. At many of these sites they offer boat rental as well as fishing gear rental. Some have horse trails for equestrians. Many campsites located in the mountains have campfire storytellers at night or hiking guides for hiking into the wilderness for the day. Some of these activities may charge, however, but the cost is usually more than reasonable. When you pay an admissions fee at a campground park, you are essentially paying to access all of the services, facilities, and activities that are offered to you; therefore, you should make good use of them.

Although most campground parks in the United States are filled with fun and exciting activities, like swimming, hiking, and boating, you may still be looking for more. This is most likely to be the case if you are planning on taking an extended camping trip or camping adventure. To ensure that you are never bored, you may want to take the time to research nearby activities. This can easily be done with the internet. What you will to do is to create a list for yourself of activities "in town". After all it is your option to travel off the campgrounds into "town" or not. Usually this change in atmosphere is welcomed.

The amount and quality of the food that you bring can make or break a camping trip. Always be sure to bring extra food along. With the extra food, you may also consider inviting people from a neighboring campsite for a meal or snack. I have found that campers are generally a good group of people overall... and this is a great way to form friendships.

Taking a camera or a video camera with you is always a plus. This is a good idea for a couple of reasons.

First it allows people to loosen up a bit. If there are people who are shy and tend to hide when you bring out a camera, then here is a solution. Instead of bringing one camera, inform the people camping with you that you are going to bring a disposable camera with everyone. When everyone has a non-threatening disposable camera, people seem to enjoy that. The fear of cameras is lifted. Unless of course you are one of the Most Wanted and your picture is already in the post office!

The goal of any camping trip is to have fun. It's hard to be spontaneous and have fun when you are having problems. If you see anyone in your group having a hard time setting up or cooking a meal or WHATEVER...just pitch in, help and make it light. Sooner or later everyone will be able to relax enough to have fun. That really is the main goal anyway.
